Kontek is playing an active role in the gulf coast recovery effort. The company recently received a contract from Jefferson Parish, in the New Orleans region, to provide safe houses that will shelter essential personnel who man pumping stations during a hurricane.

Among the reasons Kontek was chosen for this project was the extensive research in ballistics and blast mitigation that the company has preformed in conjunction with Air Force Research Labs and the University of Missouri System.
